This Learn Texas Holdem Lesson aims to educate you on the rules of Texas Holdem. It has been broken into 6 parts, explaining the whole process of the game in a step-by-step fashion. The goal of the game is to make the best 5 card hand using your own 2 cards along with 3 other cards dealt in the middle of the table.
Learn Texas Holdem Lesson # 1 – Before dealing
Before any cards are canceled, one player is nominally the dealer as signified by the "button". This button determines the order of play and is passed around the table so that each player takes a turn. The player to the left of the dealer must put money in the pot, called the "small blind". The player to the left of the small blind must put a larger amount in, usually double the small blind, as a forced bet. Each player at the table takes turns to be a blind and have a forced bet as the dealer button is passed to the left after each hand.
Learn Texas Holdem Lesson # 2 – Dealing
2 cards will be eliminated to each player face down, and the player to the left of the big blind is first to bet. The 5 betting choices are fold (throw the cards away), call (to match the previous bet and stay in the hand), raise (put in a bigger bet to raise the stakes), re-raise (raise another raise that somebody else has made) and check (the first player to act in the betting round may check and then, have no need to put in any chips to stay in the hand. have checked would need to match the bet to stay alive).
Learn Texas Holdem Lesson # 3 – The Flop
After the first round of betting, the dealer will deal 3 cards in the middle of the table, called the flop. All players can then use the 3 cards along with the 2 cards to make a hand. After this, another round of betting will occur.
Learn Texas Holdem Lesson # 4 – The Turn
The dealer will now deal 1 more card in the middle, making the total number of cards to become 4 in the middle. All players make a new hand with the 4 cards and the 2 in their hand, and then another round of betting commences.
Learn Texas Holdem Lesson # 5 – The River
The dealer deals the final card on the table, making it 5 in the middle. All players left in the hand now make their best hand from the 2 cards in their hand along with the cards in the middle. Another round of betting will happen, and then it is on to the showdown.
Learn Texas Holdem Lesson # 6 – Showdown
After the round of betting in the river stage, every player left in the hand shows their 2 cards in hand. The player with the highest ranked hand with the best 5 out of 7 cards will win all the money in the pot.
